September27,2010RiponChristianElementary/ MiddleSchoolSeptember27,2010RiponChristianElementary/ MiddleSchool Principal’s Perch I would like to share with you some reasons why I have the best seat in the house as the elementary principal: *A new student asked me if he could assist our volunteer librarians in some way. *A parent and fellow-educator recently took the time to meet with me to share her perspective on curriculum and instruction. *Resourceful third graders sold me homemade bookmarks to earn money for school library books. *I heard about a middle school student standing up for what is right at a moment when it would have been very easy to go along with the crowd. *Fourth graders gave me a large, delicious California-shaped cookie featuring the state’s four regions. *I was privileged to join a circle of middle school students who came to school early to pray around the flag pole. *I received an e-mail notifying the staff that seven parent prayer warriors will be blanketing our campus with prayer every Monday. This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24) Mr. De Weerd Expanding Your Horizons, a conference for 6th -through 12th-grade young women especially interested in possible careers in math, science, or engineering, will be held this Saturday at the University of the Pacific. A number of 7th -and 8th - grade girls have attended in recent years and found it informational, inspirational, and fun! For more information, request a brochure from Mr. Lemkuil. Pastors’ Breakfast: On Thursday students will receive invitations they may use to invite their pastor(s) to this annual event, which will be held on Tuesday, October 12. Hot Lunch: Hot lunch this Wednesday, September 30, is chicken nuggets. There will be no school this Friday, October 1. Teachers have an in-service that day. Family Fun Night: Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 30, from 5:00 -9:00 p.m. for Family Fun Night! We would like all families to help make this fundraiser successful. Ripon Christian’s athletic and math departments are attempting to raise one million pennies as an athletic/academic fundraiser. Two-liter bottles will be placed in our classrooms and local businesses for penny drop-off. We will let you know when classroom bottles are ready; meanwhile, save your pennies! TRIP: As the holiday season is approaching, we at TRIP would like to remind you of the many services we have to offer. We have gas cards, restaurants, grocery stores and lots of store gift cards. Remember gift cards make your shopping less stressful. Stop by the high school office on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Fridays in the PAC foyer from 8:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. If you have any questions, contact Doreen at 599- 6351. Science Camp Cookie Dough Fundraiser: The fifth-and sixth-grade students are currently selling cookie dough to raise money for Science Camp. The sale will run until October 8.
