Letter from the Board:

Dear Ripon Christian Community,

Over the last few months, there have been many changes to everyone's "normal" life.  One of the most significant changes for families was the transition to the distance learning experience.  While we feel distance learning was done well last spring, it in no way can match what in-person instruction means to all of our children.

The board met on July 20 and has decided to continue to move forward toward in-person learning starting on August 19.  There will be some changes to the daily routines of our children, which will be provided by the administration shortly.  These changes are designed to protect the staff and children while continuing to provide all that is expected of high quality, Christ-centered education.  The one thing that the board wants to emphasize is that it will take a commitment from parents and children to make sure that we do all we can to avoid spreading any virus.  Despite differences of opinion on COVID-19, we must take all necessary precautions to protect ourselves and others.

The board is fully aware of recent guidance from the state and will continue to monitor information from state and local authorities.  The board strongly believes in-person education is vitally important and worth pursuing for our children.  The board and administration are seeking avenues to align with like-minded Christian schools who are also committed to in-person learning.  We continue to ask for your prayers for wisdom as we make decisions going forward.

If you may have questions or concerns regarding the upcoming school year, feel free to contact Eric Segaar, our superintendent, myself, or any other board member.  It has been a long six months with many twists, but the board looks forward to school reopening and seeing a bustling campus again.

Finally, we would like to thank the community for your continued support of Ripon Christian.  The board recognizes the importance of Christian education, and God's continued faithfulness in our community.  We look forward to what God has in store for Ripon Christian Schools.

In His Service,

Arlan Vander Woude, President

Ripon Christian School Board

A letter from the Superintendent -

Hello Ripon Christian Families,

We have seen the Governor's press conference from earlier today and are currently reviewing the details of the associated guidelines and mandates. We want to assure you that our intention remains the same, to begin on-campus instruction on August 19. We will continue to examine all available avenues to further that desired outcome as we believe that in-person instruction is what is best for our students. A comprehensive re-opening plan will be reviewed by the board at its Monday, July 20 meeting and released to parents shortly thereafter.

Thank you for choosing to be a part of the Ripon Christian family. Please pray for us as we continue to prepare for the start of the new school year in this ever changing environment.

In Him,

Eric Segaar

Dear Ripon Christian Families,

We continue to appreciate your prayers, patience, and commitment as we navigate these unique times. The Ripon Christian School Board and administration are evaluating all available options to best support our students and families at this time. Over the past few weeks, we have been in contact with many different individuals, including city and county officials, legal advisors, insurance administrators, and various educational experts, exploring all options that would allow Ripon Christian to reopen campus on August 19. This information was presented to the school board at last night's meeting. After a thorough review, the board decided to delay the reopening of the school year to Tuesday, September 8, 2020. A decision to move forward on August 19 would have potentially exposed school board members, staff, and the school to civil and/or criminal liability. The decision to delay the start of school was a difficult one.

The Ripon Christian School Board and Administration remains deeply committed to in-person instruction and believe it is vital to the mission of Ripon Christian Schools. Delaying the start date allows Ripon Christian to continue collaborating with other like-minded schools both locally and across the state, and to pursue all appropriate avenues for an in-person reopening. Ripon Christian will be seeking the recently released reopening waiver as well as providing parents with opportunities to contact state-level officials to share their opinions on the current school reopening criteria.

Ripon Christian Preschool will be reopening on August 19, as previously planned, as allowed under state guidelines controlling child care facilities. Additional information for our preschool families will be released shortly, laying out expectations for the reopening of classes.

Additional information, including an updated K-12 school calendar, will be released in the coming days.

Above all, we would ask that you continue to pray for our teachers and administrators as we seek to return students to campus as soon as possible and for wisdom for our board as they shape the direction of Ripon Christian Schools. We are deeply appreciative of your continued support and ask that you continue to stand alongside us during these turbulent times.
